Cherokee Internal Medicine, P.C. was founded in Towne Lake by Dr. Maho Akamatsu with the vision of creating a medical practice that treats every patient with dignity and first-rate care. Dr. Akamatsu founded Cherokee Internal Medicine seeking to make a difference in the Woodstock community by providing the highest level of professional care. She continues to practice with high standards and tremendous care.

EDUCATION
Dr. Akamatsu earned a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from University of Georgia. She attended Wayne State University Medical School and completed residency in Internal Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Maniatis joined Cherokee Internal Medicine with hopes of expanding the practice's first-rate care and establishing more relationships with new patients. She continues to serve the primary care needs of the greater Woodstock community with excellence.

Dr. Maniatis is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is the former State Director of the Georgia Chapter of Doctors For America. She is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Osteopathic Association. She is also Certified in DOT Physical Exams.
EDUCATION
Dr. Maniatis earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences from Georgetown University in 2002. She attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Akamatsu has been our family doctor for nearly 15 years, maybe more.... and she is a delight to have on our family medical board. While small in physical attributes, she is a powerhouse of knowledge, experience, wisdom and is stern when needed. Highly recommended as an expert and as a reliable guide to our healthcare needs. Flexible, loving, kind, professional and courteous. Her staff are as well, and we will be eternally in her care.

Dr. Maniatis is a great physician! She doesn't rush her parients, treats people with kindness, and is very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this practice.
