Serving the Woodstock community since 2000, Cherokee Internal Medicine, P.C. was founded in Towne Lake by Dr. Maho Akamatsu with the vision of creating a medical practice that treats every patient with dignity and first-rate care. Our practice proudly provides care to patients ages 16 and older.

 

The office staff at Cherokee Internal Medicine are highly trained and exceptionally friendly. Our compassionate, professional staff is dedicated to providing the highest level of care possible.

Dr. Akamatsu founded Cherokee Internal Medicine seeking to make a difference in the Woodstock community by providing the highest level of professional care. She continues to practice with high standards and tremendous care.

Dr. Akamatsu is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.  She is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.

EDUCATION

Dr. Akamatsu earned a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from University of Georgia. She attended Wayne State University Medical School and completed residency in Internal Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Maniatis is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is the former State Director of the Georgia Chapter of Doctors For America. She is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Osteopathic Association. 

EDUCATION

 

Dr. Maniatis earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences from Georgetown University in 2002. She attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center.

COURTNEY MANIATIS, D.O.

Dr. Maniatis joined Cherokee Internal Medicine with a commitment to expanding the practice's tradition of exceptional, patient-centered care while building lasting relationships with those she serves. She is dedicated to meeting the primary care needs of the greater Woodstock community.

NICOLLETTE LEWIS, MD

Joining August 2026

PHYSICIAN

Dr. Lewis is board-certified in Family Medicine and board-eligible in Preventive and Lifestyle Medicine. Her clinical interests include nutrition, stress and sleep management, cancer screenings, chronic disease management, and women’s health.

She is dedicated to providing personalized, patient-centered care with a focus on prevention and overall wellness.

Dr. Lewis is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine and is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence. Licensed to practice medicine in both Georgia and Texas. Dr. Lewis remains actively engaged in the medical community through membership in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Preventive Medicine, the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and the American Medical Association. 

EDUCATION

Dr. Lewis earned her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Georgia before receiving her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. She completed her Family Medicine Residency through Texas A&M. She went on to complete a fellowship in Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine and earned a Master of Public Health from Morehouse.

GINA TAYLOR, FNP-C

Practicing since 2012

NURSE PRACTITIONER

2023-Present

Gina Taylor joined Cherokee Internal Medicine with the hopes of providing compassionate, patient-centered care. She combines her strong clinical training with a passion for preventive care and patient education, partnering with individuals and families to promote lifelong health and wellness. She is committed to delivering personalized, evidence-based care while helping patients manage acute and chronic conditions and achieve their health goals through a collaborative approach.

Gina Taylor is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She holds an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse certification and maintains an active Registered Nurse license in the state of Georgia. In addition, Gina is professionally trained and certified in the administration of Botox and dermal fillers.

EDUCATION

 

Gina Taylor earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Mississippi in 2009 and completed her Master of Science in Nursing in 2011 at the University of Mississippi.
