What is Internal Medicine?
Internal Medicine is the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of nonsurgical medical conditions. A physician trained in Internal Medicine (an Internist) completes at least seven years of medical education including medical school and post-graduate training. Internists are trained to care for the complete health care of adults of both genders.
Subspecialists are internists who have completed additional post-graduate training in a particular body system. Subspecialties of internal medicine include cardiology, gastroenterology, nephrology, endocrinology, hematology/oncology, rheumatology and pulmonology.

What is Osteopathic Medicine?
Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) uses the physician's hands to diagnose, treat and prevent illness. Common indications for OMT include muscle pain, sinus disorders and carpal tunnel syndrome amongst other conditions. In the appropriate setting, OMT can complement medications used to treat common conditions.
